Day 01 Arrive Chennai

On arrival you will be met and transferred to hotel.  Later proceed for the sightseeing of Chennai, “the gateway of South India”. 

Visit National Art Gallery and Museum (closed on Fridays) which has a selection of ancient paintings of almost all schools as well as section devoted to modern art, Fort St. George, St. Mary’s Church, Drive along Marina Beach (the second longest in the world), San Thome Cathedral, Mylapore Shiva Temple and shopping.

Overnight at Chennai.

Day 02 Chennai / Tirutani
Breakfast at Hotel.
Drive (90kms / 1.5hours) in the morning to Tirutani, the hill called Thanikai Malai where Lord Muruga went for leading Life of Meditation.   Here Lord Murugan is known as Thanikachalam.   After temple visit drive back to Chennai.
Later in the evening transfer to the Station to board train to Madurai. 
Overnight on train.
Day 03 Arrive Madurai
Early morning arrive Madurai. On arrival check-in to the hotel. In the afternoon visit to Pazhamudircholai, unlike the other five temples, there is no grand edifice surrounding the central shrine of worship. The temple is composed of three shrines dedicated to Ganesha, Muruga and Lord Shiva. This fane surrounded by thick jungle presents a picturesque scene of peace and quiet. Thiruparankundram enshrines Murugan as the leader of the armies of the Gods, which are among the six abodes of Lord Murugan. Its innermost shrine is cut out of a solid rock. Overnight at Madurai.
Day 04 Madurai / Palani / Madurai

Drive (110kms 2.5hours) to Palani.  According to mythology, the origin of the temple is based on the story when Lord Shiva offered a mango as a prize to the sons who encircled the world first. Lord Muruga set off at great pace on his peacock, while Lord Ganesha went round his divine parents indicating that they were the universe, and thereby won the prize Mango. Lord Muruga in his frustration, clad only in a hermit's garb and carrying the staff dandam left Mount Kailasa for the South.  Visit the temple - 4th in the series of Arupadai Vedu, then drive back to Madurai.

Day 05 Madurai / Tiruchchendur / Madurai
Drive (220kms 5 hours) to Tiruchchendur. According to tradition, after the final battle on the beach at Tiruchendur, Lord Murugan felt remorse for His role in slaughtering Surapadma's demonic army. He therefore built a shrine nearby to His Father Lord Siva and worshipped Him there. Technically, therefore, the temple is dedicated to Lord Siva. Yet the mulasthanam deity is Lord Senthil Andavar. Overnight at Madurai.
Day 06 Madurai / Tanjore

Drive to Tanjore 155kms check into hotel.  In the afternoon visit to Swamimalai - The temple is built on an artificial hillock of about sixty feet height with sixty beautifully laid stone steps representing the Hindu cycle of sixty years - leading to the Lord . In the ground floor there are temples dedicated to Lord Sundareswarar and Goddess Meenakshi.
Overnight at Tanjore.

Day 07   Trichy / Chennai

Morning Drive (60kms 1 hour) to Trichy take 9.00 am train to Chennai on arrival in Chennai transfer to airport.
